Red River is a village in Taos County in the US state of New Mexico . Red River has 484 inhabitants on an area of ​​2.6 km². The village is in the Carson National Forest on the border with Colfax County . The village has a ski area.

history

Red River flourished in the 1870s when gold was discovered in the village. The population was then around 3,000 and remained in that area until 1895 when the mines were closed. After that, the population steadily decreased. In the 1930s, the remaining residents promoted tourism.
