Redfearn Island

Redfearn Island is a small island off the Ingrid Christensen coast of Princess Elisabeth Land in East Antarctica . It is located immediately west of Warriner Island and 1.5 km from the western end of the Breidnes Peninsula in the Vestfold Mountains .

Norwegian cartographers falsely mapped them as two islands based on aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 . Aerial photographs taken between 1957 and 1958 during the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions were used for re-mapping. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named the island after Harold Thomas Redfearn, a diesel generator set mechanic at Davis Station in 1961.
