Casaccia Church

The Reformed Church Casaccia is the focus of 1971 to Vicosoprano belonging Bergeller village Casaccia . It is an evangelical - reformed church under the protection of monuments of the canton of Graubünden . The church was last renovated in the late 1980s.

History and equipment

Casaccia accepted the Reformation in 1551 under the leadership of the preacher Pietro Paolo Vergerio . The current church was built in 1742 in the Baroque style on the foundation of a former chapel, which was devastated by a landslide with numerous other houses in 1740 and was no longer rebuilt. The new building replaced the dilapidated main church church ruins of San Gaudenzio , which was a popular place of pilgrimage in the Middle Ages .

A polygonal walnut pulpit on the right-hand side dominates the interior . The choir is covered by a fan vault. A black and marble epitaph of the Salis family hangs on its central wall .

Church organization

The Evangelical Reformed Regional Church of Graubünden runs Casaccia as the preaching place of the merged parish (previously pastoral community ) Bregaglia, which belongs to the Colloquium VII Engiadin'Ota-Bregaglia-Poschiavo-Sursès .
