The Reformed Church of Oberrieden ZH is a late baroque church building by Hans Ulrich Grubenmann in Oberrieden ZH .

Building history

The church was built in 1761 in an elevated position above Lake Zurich based on plans by Hans Ulrich Grubenmann . It is a simple rural hall church with a polygonal choir . The front tower of the church is finished with elegantly curved eyelashes for the clock faces of the tower clock and a pointed helmet. The roof structure in the nave and spire, built according to the bridge construction method, is considered a milestone in Grubenmann's work, which culminates with the bold roof structure of the Wädenswil church .

Furnishing

The interior is kept entirely in the Rococo style. The stucco work is by Andreas and Peter Anton Moosbrugger . The pulpit and baptismal font also date from the time the church was built and are decorated with ornaments . Above the middle choir window is the coat of arms of the builder Grubenmann. The words of the Reformed baptismal liturgy are engraved on the baptismal font from 1761 . The door lunettes are decorated with neo-Gothic glass paintings from 1877.

In addition to the Kuhn organ from 1962 on the gallery, the Oberrieden church has had a five-room chest organ built by Peter Meier since 2010 .

The church was renovated for the anniversary year 2011, with the stucco painted in salmon-colored pastel.

Surroundings

To the southeast of the church is the cemetery. To the north-west of the church, opposite the tower entrance, the Zürcherhaus rises , which the Reformed parish serves as an event building.
