Life

Peter Anton Moosbrugger was born as the fifth and last son of Franz Josef Moosbrugger. On November 13th he married Barbara Moosbrugger from Schoppennau. From this marriage there were four adult sons.

  • Josef Anton , who became a plasterer and marbler, was born on November 21, 1764 .
  • Johann Michael , who became a plasterer, was born on January 4, 1767 .
  • Johann Jakob was born on July 23, 1769, but nothing is known about his professional career.
  • On July 1, 1774, Josef Simon was born, who became a plasterer and marbler.

Professional career

From the sparse records it must be assumed that Peter Anton Moosbrugger acquired a job outside of his training as a plasterer around 1760. At the age of 33 he was responsible for a decoration for the first time when he left for Wädenswil in 1766 as head of the Moosburg troop.

Responsibility often changed from one construction site to another between him and his brother Andreas Moosbrugger, although their fee was usually the same, regardless of who was in charge. The brisk activity of the Moosbrugger brothers between 1775 and 1785 suggests that they formed two teams.

Overall, the work of the brothers Andreas and Peter Anton forms a unit, which makes it difficult to assign individual works to one of the brothers or their twelve descendants.
