The Reformed Church of St. Antönien in St. Antönien in the Prättigau is a Protestant - Reformed church under the protection of monuments of the Canton of Graubünden .

history

The church dates from the middle of the 14th century and was under the patronage of St. Anthony . In 1493 a new and extension was built in the late Gothic style , in which the church tower was also increased. The Reformation was accepted as early as 1523/24 through the work of Jakob Spreiter .

Furnishing

The inside of the nave is covered with a barrel vault made of wooden strips. The choir is covered by an ornate star vault. In the middle of the choir is a baptismal font , which according to the Reformed tradition also functions as a table for the Lord's Supper . The polygonal pulpit without a sound cover , which is climbed by a long ascent and behind which a powerful sermon chair is attached, mediates on the left between the choir and the ship. An organ built in 1730 by Johann Conrad Speisegger has stood on the gallery since 1966 .

The church survived several avalanches unscathed over the centuries.

Church organization

The Evangelical Reformed Regional Church of Graubünden leads St. Antönien as a small independent parish within the Colloquium IX Prättigau . The pastor who works part-time has been living in the village again since 2012.
