Reformed Church Wergenstein

The Reformed Church in Wergenstein on Schamserberg in Shams in the canton of Grisons is a Grade II listed Evangelical - Reformed church .

History and equipment

The church is attested under the patronage of Calixt in late medieval times . Wergenstein accepted the Reformation before 1538. This year the church was expanded and designed as a Reformed preaching church .

The tower on the valley side is covered by a tent roof and has a one-story bell house. In front of the choir , which is adorned by a ribbed vault , the raised pulpit without sound covers corresponds on the left and the organ on the right , while in the middle of the choir there is a baptismal table on which the Lord's Supper is also celebrated.

Church organization

Casti-Wergenstein form a pastoral community with Zillis and the other villages on the Schamserberg and belong to the Colloquium II Schams-Avers-Rheinwald-Moesa within the Protestant-Reformed regional church of Graubünden .
