The Refuge des Conscrits is a refuge of the Saint Gervais section of the Club Alpin Français in the French part of the Mont Blanc group .

Location and operation

The hut is located on the southern slope of the Aiguille de la Bêrangere at 2602 m (other information: 2580 m) above the Glacier de Tré la Tête . The current building was built in 1997 in a modern style, the remains of the old hut, which was demolished in 1995, are to the east (only the foundations are visible).

The hut is run by the French Alpine Club and is open from March to September. It offers space for up to 90 people, which is spread over 70 storage spaces and 20 room spaces. In addition, there is a year-round accessible winter room.

Approach and tours

The normal route to the hut leads from the district of Le Cugnon in the valley community of Les Contamines-Montjoie at 1180 m, initially over a wooded serpentine path in around two and a half hours to the Hotel de Tré la Tête (also: Refuge de Tré la Tête ) at an altitude of 1970 m . From there the path goes flat into the ravine-like lower part of the Torrent de Tré la Tête valley of the Tré la Tête glacier, over whose debris-laden lower part the path climbs to the glacier break. Left hand on the steep, from glacier abraded rock walls a ladder cascade leads (total height 100 m) on the overlying meadows - formerly usual route through the icefall today is no longer accessible, as a result of glacier retreat is no longer possible a safe exit from the glacier bed is. From the top of the ladders, the path climbs over grassy plateaus in just under an hour to the hut. Alternatively, a new summer path, partly secured with ropes, leads to the hut from above the Refuge de Tré la Tête. A deep gorge is overcome by means of a suspension bridge.

Due to the central location in the southern Mont-Blanc massif, many mountains in the area are accessible, the Dômes de Miage is the local mountain , which is the destination of most hut guests. In addition, u. a. Tours to Mont Tondu , the Aiguilles des Glaciers and the Aiguille de Tré la Tête are possible, which at 3930 m forms the highest point of the southern Mont-Blanc massif.
