Government of Robert Fico III
The government of Robert Fico III was the government of the Slovak Republic from March 23, 2016 to March 22, 2018 .
development
In the 2016 parliamentary election , the left-wing Smer-SD of Prime Minister Robert Fico remained the strongest force, but fell back from 44.4% to 28.3% and thus clearly missed the absolute majority achieved in the last elections. Two weeks after the election, Smer-SD reached an agreement on a coalition agreement with the nationalist SNS , the liberal Slovak-Hungarian party Most-Híd and the conservative # Sieť .
On March 23, 2016, the government in Bratislava was sworn in and took office.
Since September 1, 2016, the government has been transformed from a four-party coalition into a three-party coalition after the liberal-conservative Sieť party lost most of its MPs.
In the wake of the events following the murder of journalist Ján Kuciak , Minister of Culture Marek Maďarič resigned in February 2018 , as did Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák and Prime Minister Robert Fico in March .
While the opposition and demonstrators called for new elections, the coalition parties tried to prevent this by forming a new government. In the government of Peter Pellegrini , which was sworn in on March 22, 2018, five new government members were represented in addition to the Prime Minister, nine ministers from the Fico III government remained in their posts.
