Regina Escher
Regina Escher (* 1955 ) is a retired Swiss diplomat . From December 2010 to 2013 she was the first Swiss ambassador to Sofia , Bulgaria .
career
Escher completed a doctorate in political science (dr. Sc. Pol.) In 1985 with a dissertation on the United Nations . She joined the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) in 1987 as a trainee diplomat (“Stagiaire diplomatique”) . In the diplomatic service she later became the “first employee” of the head of mission in Sofia .
In December 2010 Regina Escher was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Bulgaria as the successor to Thomas Feller , who moved to Algeria . She was accredited on January 27, 2011 and retired after three years. In November 2013 , the Swiss Federal Council appointed Denis Knobel , who had been head of mission in Zagreb until then, as her successor .
