Regina Rusch

Regina Rusch-Otto (* 1945 in Hamburg ; † September 8, 2017 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German freelance writer of mainly children's and youth literature.

Life

After studying literature, history and philosophy, she first worked as a journalist (including for Stern and the Hamburger Morgenpost ) and in adult education. Her move to Frankfurt-Kalbach (1980) prompted her to be culturally active as part of neighborhood initiatives; Together with her colleagues she founded the Kalbach Children's Association in 1983 and the Kalbach Children's Book Fair in 1985. From 1987 onwards, this fair resulted in a book lending facility, initially at her home, later in the old town hall of Kalbach.

Even before her first children's book was published in 1987, she was the initiator of children's writing competitions together with the trade union magazine metall .

Regina Rusch was the founder of the first German children's book award in 1988, which consists of a purely children's jury, the Kalbach rattlesnake . She headed the club for 12 years.

In her books for children and young people she mainly dealt with the topic of tolerance .

Prizes and awards

Regina Rusch received several awards for her literary and editorial work on children's poetry.
