Regina Seeringer

Regina Maria Seeringer (born February 24, 1949 in Himmelsthür , Hildesheim district ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

education and profession

She studied social pedagogy at the Hildesheim University of Applied Sciences and graduated there in 1972 with a degree in social pedagogy . Her first job as a consultant in youth and adult education was at the Diocese of Hildesheim.

In addition to parliamentary work, Seeringer is involved in various areas. She founded the child protection association in the Osterode district . She did volunteer work in educational work at the Kolping Society and as long-time chairwoman of the school parents' council at the Osterode grammar school. She was also deputy diocesan chairwoman and member of the state committee for Catholic adult education. In addition, she was a member of the MTV Osterode board.

Seeringer is married to Frank Seeringer and has two children.

Before taking up state politics, Regina Seeringer was a member of the Hildesheim City Council from 1976 to 1979 and of the Himmelsthür local council from 1974 to 1979, where she also chaired the CDU parliamentary group . After a few years' break, she was a member of the council of the city of Osterode from 1986 to 2016, where she chaired the CDU parliamentary group. From 1991 to 2016 member of the Osterode am Harz district council. Until 2010 she was chairwoman of the CDU district association in Osterode. She was a member of the supervisory board of Kreiswohnbau Osterode and Harz Energie, a member of the board of directors of Sparkasse Osterode, and a member of the advisory board of the community college.

In 2003 she was elected as a direct candidate for the constituency of Osterode in the Lower Saxony state parliament. There she was a member of the committees for science and culture as well as for budget and finance and in the culture committee. She was also a member of the “Demographic Change” commission of inquiry . She was the adult education policy spokeswoman for her parliamentary group and also sat in the parliamentary group's working group “Economy, Labor and Transport”.

In the state elections in 2008 Seeringer lost the direct mandate and left the state parliament. In 2012, however, she moved up to the state parliament.

In the state elections in 2013 , she was unable to get a direct mandate.

Awards

In 2018 Seeringer was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
