Reginaldo Oliveira

Reginaldo Oliveira (born November 30, 1982 in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil ) is a Brazilian dancer and choreographer who lived in Germany from 2006 to 2017 when he moved to the Karlsruhe State Theater . Since the 2017/2018 season he has been working as a ballet director, division manager and choreographer at the Landestheater Salzburg in Austria and lives there. The ballet dancer Bruna Andrade received the German Theater Prize “ Der Faust ” in the category Best Actress Dance for her performance in Oliveira's choreography .

In 2016 Oliveira received a lot of media attention for Anne Frank's ballet interpretation .

biography

Reginaldo Oliveira grew up in Rio de Janeiro. He completed his dance training at the Maria Olenewa School, with the ballet Dalal Achcar and Jorge Texeira. In 1998 he won first prize at the Russian Ballet Competition in São Paulo and received a scholarship from the State Academy for Choreography of the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow. In 2000 he became a member of the ballet company at the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro , where he rose to the rank of soloist in 2003. In the 2006/07 season he moved to the State Theater in Karlsruhe.

Reginaldo Oliveira presented his first choreography, »Attempt«, in the 2009/2010 season as part of »Choreographers introduce themselves«, followed by »Torn« (2012). In a large-scale project that was shown in several exhibitions throughout Germany, he worked with Flavio Salamanka and Barbara Blanche in 2012 for the Gerlinde Beck Foundation choreographically and filmically with sculptures by the deceased sculptor.

Reginaldo Oliveira also created “Across the border”, a solo choreography for chamber dancer Flavio Salamanka for the 2012 Birgit Keil dance foundation gala . Following the world premiere, this piece was performed at the 3rd International Ballet Gala in Salzburg, at the Ballet Gala for the award of the German Dance Prize 2013 and at the World Stars Ballet Gala Donetsk and most recently at the 6th Ballet Gala at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe . This was followed by »Presente« for the gala »An Evening for Birgit Keil« in October 2014 and »Attacke« in 2014 and »Eiskalt« for ballet galas at the Baden State Theater in 2014 and »Eiskalt« in 2015. "Eiskalt" was called after the premiere a. a. also successfully performed in Brasília at the Festival Internacional de Dança de Brasília.

Also at the Badisches Staatstheater, the first commissioned work “Der Fall M” was created as part of the ballet evening “Myth” in 2014. Bruna Andrade, the Medea dancer, received the German Theater Prize »Der Faust« in the category »Best Actress Dance« for her role interpretation in this work . Another success was the choreography for the State Ballet as part of the opening show for the 300th birthday of the city of Karlsruhe in 2015. This was followed by Reginaldo Oliveira's first full-length narrative ballet "Anne Frank" , which premiered in April 2016 at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and was a great public success . This creation also found attention in the critics' surveys of various dance magazines, u. a. Reginaldo Oliveira was named by Angela Reinhardt in the magazine »tanz« as »Choreographer of the Year«.

In autumn 2017 Reginaldo Oliveira made his debut as the new chief choreographer of the Salzburg State Theater with “Medea - Der Fall M.” as part of the “Dionysia” in the Felsenreitschule, which was celebrated by the public and the press. It followed in May 2018 for the opening of the venue in the new rehearsal center Aigen »Balacobaco«, a ballet festival for the Brazilian way of life. With »Othello« , ballet director Oliveira created a full-length narrative ballet for the audience of the Salzburg State Theater for the first time in November 2018.

Angela Reinhardt's “tanz” magazine named Reginaldo Oliveira as Choreographer of the Year for his work Anne Frank. Anne Frank was nominated twice in the magazine “Dance for you”: on the one hand by Hartmut Regitz, who saw Bruna Andrade as an outstanding dancer in the Principal Dancer category for her role interpretation of Anne, and on the other hand by Vesna Mlakar, the Reginaldo Oliveira, as the best choreographer of the year nominated.
