Foča region

The Foča region (from 1992 to 2004 the Srbinje region ) was one of seven administrative regions of the Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina until 2015 . It was located in the east of the country on the borders with Serbia and Montenegro . The population of the area has consisted mainly of Bosnian Serbs since the Bosnian War .

The nominal capital of the area was Foča with about 24,000 inhabitants.

The most important river in the region is the Drina , which forms the border with Serbia.

Communities

The region included the following seven municipalities:

  1. Čajniče
  2. Foča (temporarily Srbinje )
  3. Kalinovik
  4. Rudo
  5. Ustiprača (also Novo Goražde , temporarily Srpsko Goražde )
  6. Višegrad
