Maximilian (von) Stoesser (also Max Stoesser , or Stösser or Stößer ) (born October 7, 1820 in Heidelberg , † October 16, 1894 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was city ​​director of Freiburg (1877-1890).

Life

Maximilian Stoesser was born as the son of Johann Gottfried Stösser and Luise Marie Stroehlin. He studied law in Freiburg and Heidelberg. In Freiburg he joined the Corps Suevia and in Heidelberg the Corps Rhenania . In 1844 he began as a legal intern and then became a lawyer in 1848 , first in Bühl and then from 1850 in Freiburg. From 1849 to 1850 there was an investigation into "participating in high treason" , so that he was suspended as a lawyer. Stoesser had participated in the Offenburg meeting and was chairman of the Bühler Volksverein . As a captain, he had led a vigilante group from Bühl to Philippsburg and Mannheim. After the end of the investigation, after ten years as a lawyer in Freiburg, Stoesser was appointed high court advocate in 1860 and in 1864 as a bailiff and second civil servant. In 1866 he was first senior administrator at the Freiburg district office and then major board member at Waldkirch . He took over the same office in Offenburg in 1874 . In 1877 he returned as city manager back to Freiburg, where he 1887 Privy Councilor was. In 1890 he retired.
