The Central China Regional Army ( Japanese 中 支那 方面軍 , Naka Shina hōmengun ) was one of the regional armies of the Imperial Japanese Army from 1937 to 1938 .
history
The Central China Regional Army was set up in Shanghai on November 7, 1937 under the command of General Matsui Iwane and was subordinate to the Daihon'ei , the Imperial Headquarters of the Army and Navy. It consisted of the 10th Army and the Shanghai Expeditionary Army . From December 1, she took part in the Battle of Nanking . After taking the city, units of the Central China Regional Army participated in the Nanking massacre .
The Central China Regional Army was disbanded in Nanking on February 14, 1938, when General Matsui was ordered back to Japan because of the massacre. In their place, the Central China Expeditionary Army was formed under Hata Shunroku .
