The film reports on an event of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts . Every year a group of 17 to 18-year-old artistically active young people can spend a week with their idols in order to learn from the already established artists of the performing and visual arts. The young people in this film spend seven days with the actress and singer Vanessa Lynn Williams , the dancers Mikhail Baryshnikov and Jacques d'Amboise, and the conductor Michael Tilson Thomas .

In 2007 the film was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Documentary Short Film category.
