Life

Rachelle Cordova grew up in Fargo, North Dakota. At the age of 15 she got her first guitar and took guitar lessons.

She has been using the internet as a means of publishing her music since 2007. The artist name chosen for this purpose has its origin in the relationship to Spanish-language literature: The nickname of her guitar at the time was " El Cid ", named after the Castilian lord, knight and mercenary leader of the same name, and the name "Reina" means in Spanish " Queen"; Reina del Cid as the queen of her guitar.

Cordova graduated from the University of Minnesota , Minneapolis with a degree in English Literature in 2010 . She then worked as an editorial assistant at the university publishing house there , before setting up as a freelance musician.

Reina del Cid has been working with lead guitarist Toni Lindgren since 2011. In 2015 the band performed as artist in residence every Monday in a bar in downtown Saint Paul and was able to train their own skills in playing in front of an audience. Concert tours also took the band to Europe. Reina del Cid has been publishing the Song-a-Week video series Sunday Mornings with Reina del Cid with Lindgren and changing musicians since 2016 . The YouTube channel currently has 189,000 subscribers and over 50 million views.
