Reiner Keller (sociologist)

Reiner Keller (born January 14, 1962 in Illingen (Saar) ) is a German sociologist .

After studying sociology , social policy and administrative science at the Universities of Saarbrücken , Rennes (France) and Bamberg , from which he graduated in 1988 with a diploma (sociology), he received his doctorate in 1997 at the Technical University of Munich . He then worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Sociology at the PhilSo Faculty at the University of Augsburg and worked in the Collaborative Research Center 536 "Reflexive Modernization". In 2004 he completed his habilitation in sociology. From 2007 to 2011 he was Professor of General Sociology at the University of Koblenz-Landau . Since October 1, 2011, he has held the chair for general sociology and sociology of knowledge at the University of Augsburg.

In recent years he has devoted himself in particular to the development of the sociological discourse analysis ; He also conducted many discourse workshops, organized conferences on discourse research and is the editor of the book series 'Theory and Practice of Discourse Research' (VS-Verlag). Reiner Keller is a founding member of the research network DiskursNetz and initiator of the network knowledge-sociological discourse analysis.

Keller's main areas of work are: knowledge-sociological discourse theory and analysis , social-scientific discourse research ; Sociological theory and diagnosis of society; Sociology of knowledge and culture ; Qualitative social research ; French sociology.
