Markus Draxler (born April 5, 1977 in Wasserburg am Inn ) is a former German ice hockey player .

Career

At 17, Draxler was one of the youngest players to play in the newly founded DEL in the 1994/95 season . In the period from 1994 to 1996 he was active nine times for the Starbulls Rosenheim in the top German division. He then played in the 1997/98 season with the then second farm team of the Pittsburgh Penguins , the Johnstown Chiefs , in the North American East Coast Hockey League . After that he was employed in various leagues in Germany, where he played again in the highest German league, the DEL, for the Iserlohn Roosters and played 46 games in the 2002/03 season .

In total, Draxler played 55 point games in Germany's elite league. One of his greatest successes was winning the silver medal with the German U-18 national team at the European Junior Championships in 1995 in Berlin.

The striker ended his professional career after the 2006/07 season, in which he played for the Hanover Indians .
