Pure Liese

Reiner Liese (born November 2, 1943 in Warburg ) is a former German pole vaulter .

Liese won the German indoor championship in 1966 and 1967 with a jumped height of 4.80 m and 4.90 m. In 1965 and 1967 he achieved his best placement at the German outdoor championships with fourth place.

He also took part in the European Indoor Games in Dortmund in 1966 and in Prague in 1967 . In Dortmund he won the bronze medal with 4.70 m behind Hennadij Blesnizow (gold with 4.90 m) and the Czechoslovak Rudolf Tomášek (silver with 4.80 m), who started for the Soviet Union . In the following year in Prague he was able to gain 10 cm, but Gennadi Blisnezow and Wolfgang Nordwig (GDR) each jumped 4.90 m and the victorious Igor Feld from the Soviet Union even jumped 5.00 m, so that Liese only finished sixth came.

He set his personal best of 5.10 m on June 25, 1972 in Brussels .

Liese started for KSV Hessen Kassel until 1966 and from 1967 for ASC Darmstadt , for which he also worked as a trainer. In later years he appeared as a senior athlete. On June 7, 1978 in Darmstadt , at the age of 34, he jumped over 4.62 m.

In 2011 Liese was in charge of the competition at the German University Athletics Championships, which was also held in Darmstadt.
