Hennadij Blesnizow
Hennadij Blesnitsow ( Ukrainian Геннадій Блезніцов , English transcription Hennadiy Bleznitsov; born January 6, 1941 in Kharkiv ) is a former Ukrainian pole vaulter who started for the Soviet Union .
In 1963 he won the Universiade . In the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo , he was fifth, and at the Universiade in 1965 he won silver.
In 1966 he won the European Indoor Games in Dortmund . At the European Athletics Championships in Budapest , he failed to qualify for a valid attempt.
At the European Indoor Games in Prague in 1967 he won silver. In 1968, another silver medal at the European Indoor Games in Madrid was followed by a sixth place at the Olympic Games in Mexico City with his personal best of 5.30 m.
At the European Indoor Games in Belgrade in 1969 , he again won silver, and at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1970 in Vienna, he was sixth.
He was Soviet champion seven times (1963–1966, 1968, 1970, 1972).
