Atanas Tarew
Atanas Kirilow Tarew ( Bulgarian Атанас Кирилов Търев , English transcription Atanas Tarev ; born January 31, 1958 in Boliarsi , Plovdiv Oblast ) is a former Bulgarian pole vaulter .
In 1980 he was eliminated from qualifying at the Olympic Games in Moscow . At the European Championships in Athens in 1982 and at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 , he won the bronze medal. At the European Indoor Athletics Championships , bronze was followed by bronze in Athens in 1985 and gold in 1986 in Madrid.
In the summer of 1986 he was fourth at the European Championships in Stuttgart , and in 1987 he was sixth at the Indoor World Championships in Indianapolis and eighth at the World Championships in Rome .
In 1988 he again won bronze at the European Indoor Championships in Budapest , but did not get beyond the preliminary round at the Olympic Games in Seoul .
Twelve times he was in the open air (1976-1986, 1988) and four times in the hall (1979, 1981-1983) national champions.
