Reinhard (Nassau-Beilstein)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Reinhard von Nassau-Beilstein (* after 1374 ; † between December 30, 1414 and April 17, 1418 ) was co-regent of the county of Nassau-Beilstein from 1378/80 until his death . He ruled the county together with his older brother Heinrich II .

Life

Reinhard was the second son of Count Heinrich I von Nassau-Beilstein and his wife Meyna (Imagina) von Westerburg († around 1380). After the death of his father around 1378/80 Reinhard took over the government together with his brother Heinrich. Heinrich received the Beilstein Castle, Reinhold the Liebenscheid Castle . The sub-county remained undivided.

After taking office, the brothers succeeded in improving the county's financial situation and redeeming numerous claims that their father had pawned.

In the dispute over the rule of Heinsberg, an heir of his grandmother Adelheid von Heinsberg and Blankenburg , Reinhard von Wilhelm von Jülich was able to receive compensation payments in the form of an annual pension in 1380. This pension, 50 gold guilders from customs at Ravenstein , was received by the Nassau-Beilstein house until its expiry. Reinhard and his brother also succeeded in defending the sovereign rights claimed by Nassau over the rule of the Westerwald against Westerburg and Runkel .

After the death of his brother, probably shortly after October 12, 1412, Reinhard ruled the county together with his nephew Johann . Reinhard probably died between December 30, 1414 and April 17, 1418.
