Reinhard Niessner

Reinhard Nießner (born May 28, 1951 ) is a German chemist and professor of analytical chemistry at the Technical University of Munich . Nießner was director of the "Institute for Water Chemistry " at the Technical University of Munich.

Life

Nießner studied chemistry at the University of Freiburg , where he received his diploma in 1976. He received his doctorate in 1981 from the University of Dortmund . After his habilitation in 1985, he was professor for inorganic and analytical chemistry at the University of Dortmund from 1986 to 1989 . After rejecting offers for various academic positions and offers from industry, he finally accepted the offer for his position at the Technical University of Munich in 1989.

Research areas

Nießner's research is primarily into environmental analysis , methodologically mainly the application of laser spectroscopy, the characterization of nanoparticles and microarray techniques. A material research focus are aerosols , hydrocolloids and biofilms in the atmosphere and the hydrosphere.

Nießner is co-editor of a number of scientific journals, including the American Chemical Society's Journal Analytical Chemistry , the Analytical Sciences journal, and the Annual Review of Analytical Chemistry . So far, Nießner has published over 600 scientific publications and numerous doctoral, master and diploma theses have been prepared in his working group.
