Reinhold Frank (born July 14, 1918 in Neu-Schilling , Volga German Republic , Soviet Union ; † 2001 ) was a Russian-German writer.

Life

Frank grew up in the German Volga region of the USSR and completed his training at the medical school in Balzer in 1938 . In 1939 he became a student at the Saratov Pedagogical Institute (Faculty of Foreign Languages); while he was an employee of the German state publisher in Engels . As a result of the Stalinist policy, he was forcibly relocated to Siberia in 1941 , and from 1942 to 1945 he did forced labor in the so-called Trud Army . After the end of World War II, Frank worked in the health sector in Karaganda from 1946 to 1979 . From 1956 he published in all German-language newspapers in the USSR as well as in anthologies. In 1978 the single volume "Unterm Neulandhimmel" was published in Alma-Ata . He also translated poems by Rassul Gamsatow for the magazine "Neues Leben".

In 1983 he managed to emigrate to the Federal Republic of Germany; Frank published since 1974 in anthologies and magazines in Germany, such as "Nachrichten aus Kazakhstan" 1974, "The fairy of domineering bears" (children's book, 1990), poetry in the volume "Endlos weite Steppe" 1995, stories in "Volgadeutsche Schicksale" ( 1995) and "Ruf der Ahnen" (1999) published by RG Fischer Verlag . In 1996 Frank received the honorary gift from the state of Baden-Württemberg as part of the culture prize for the promotion of the cultural assets of Germans from Russia . He was a member of the Academy for Arts and Culture in Munich.
