The RG Fischer Verlag (also Rita G. Fischer-Verlag ) is an imprint and printing subsidy publisher based in Frankfurt am Main .

publishing company

Rita G. Fischer founded the RG Fischer Verlag in 1977. The publishing group has more than 800 titles in its range, the authors of the publishing house are asked to pay for the costs of editing , layout , printing and advertising of their books.

Initially, dissertations, diploma theses and specialist publications were published in the “Dissertations” department (Frankfurt am Main, Alt Fechenheim 75). Selected works of fiction have been published as part of edition fischer .

According to its own information, RG Fischer receives 5,000 manuscripts sent in every year, 200 to 250 of which are published. The publishing structure also includes the Interbook Literary Agency , which places advertisements in magazines to convey manuscripts to publishers and forwards the inquiries to RG Fischer.

In 2000, Der Spiegel referred to insiders who estimated the sales of market leaders in grant publishers such as RG Fischer GmbH to be four to six million D-Marks (two to three million euros) with returns of 25 to 30 percent. Also Reclams property lexicon of the book is one RG Fischer of the market leaders in the payment publishers.

Authors

The authors of RG Fischer include the sociologist Klaus Sochatzy , the composer Klaus-Peter Schneegass , the economic geographer Wolf Donner and the educator Eva Dehm-Hasselwander . The AFD -Politiker Wolfgang Gedeon published under the pseudonym "WG Champion" four books at RG Fischer, the trilogy Christian-dominant European culture and the green communism and the dictatorship of the minority , the anti-Semitic to the theses and submissions Protocols of the Elders of Zion included.

criticism

The federal chairman of the Association of German Writers , Imre Török , said in 2006 on Deutschlandfunk Kultur that the publishing house was one of the “black sheep” in the publishing industry. Törok pointed out that an author at RG Fischer Verlag would have to pay a personal contribution of 16,000 euros if he wanted to publish a book. With this business model, it is enough to have many authors and not necessarily have to sell books. He denied RG Fischer being a publisher; rather it is a service that is offered. He called for companies like RG Fischer to be excluded from the Frankfurt Book Fair .

Der Spiegel reported on the case of early retiree Horst Krieger, who submitted his novel manuscript to RG Fischer in 1997. It was accepted, but he was asked for a "subsidy" of DM 31,924 for 2000 copies. In Krieger's contract it says that the publisher "if necessary for reasons of storage capacity, can print the edition in several partial editions".

In 2008, the writers Tom Liehr , Michael Janßen and Michael Höfler, members of the Internet poet group of 42 authors , sent a nine-page, deliberately poor manuscript sample under a pseudonym to various author grant publishers. The work, which “we like very much”, required “intensive proofreading”, wrote RG Fischer and offered to print the work for a subsidy of 15,910 to 30,260 euros, depending on the contract variant.
