Wolf Donner (Author)

Wolf Donner (born January 27, 1923 in Berlin ; † November 14, 2018 in Cologne ) was a German development worker and freelance writer .

Life

Wolf Donner attended elementary and secondary school in Berlin and Dessau . In the Second World War he was last corporal . After his return from captivity in 1946, he found employment in the chemical industry, initially as a simple worker. From 1947 to 1949 he completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk. A short interlude as a commercial clerk followed . From 1949 he studied economics , social policy and economic geography at the Humboldt University in East Berlin and at the Free University in West Berlin. In 1953 he graduated in economics , in 1959 he received his doctorate at the University of Cologne . After returning to work, Wolf Donner worked as a press officer at the North Rhine-Westphalian state association of the social association VdK Germany and as editor of association magazines. He later gave up this job to work in development policy, as a freelance journalist and in adult education. This has resulted in numerous trips since 1955.

Between 1966 and 1978 he lived and worked as a consultant for agricultural development planning in the service of the World Food Organization of the United Nations in Nepal , Thailand , Brazil and Haiti . He traveled to five continents.

Wolf Donner lived in Germany again in 1978 and worked mainly as a freelance writer. In addition, he continued to work at scientific institutes, reviewers and adult educators. From 1985 to 2004 he was editor-in-chief of the trade journal Nepal Information . From 1993 to 1999, Donner was also chairman of the German-Nepalese Society, of which he was appointed honorary chairman in 2005.

He lived with his wife Eka in Cologne and was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class . In November 2018 he died at the age of 95 in Cologne.
