Reinhold Hoemann (born April 14, 1870 in Waldbröl ; † October 27, 1961 ) was a German gardener and landscape architect .

Life

Hoemann received his training at the higher horticultural school of the "Flora - Society for Botany and Horticulture" in Cologne and then worked at the International Horticultural Exhibition in 1888 in Cologne. After various positions in salaried activity, he was the city's head gardener in Düsseldorf from 1895 to 1898. He then founded a tree nursery that still exists today in Düsseldorf-Grafenberg - relocated to Langenfeld in 1927 - and worked as a successful garden architect.

His designs took over the efforts of the garden reform, which aimed for a more architectural and spatial orientation of garden art. In addition, he was an active member of numerous professional clubs and associations and was one of the most influential garden architects of his time through his journalistic activities, among other things as editor of the magazine “Die Gartenkunst” from 1911 to 1913. During the time of National Socialism he was a member of the NSDAP and worked as a landscape lawyer in the spirit of Alwin Seifert in the construction of the Reichsautobahn. Its Plauen city park is one of the most important public facilities from the beginning of the 20th century in Saxony.
