The son of Walther vom Graben and nephew of Konrad I. vom Graben was probably born at Alt-Grabenhofen Castle . He was first mentioned in 1325, which could be considered the year of his birth, in the chronicle of Rein Abbey . In 1356 he appeared as the (main) heir of his cousin Konrad II vom (from) the Graben , who could have appeared as the ancestral lord of the Orsini-Rosenberg family of counts and princes . Reinprecht was granted Bergobrigkeit ( mountain rights ) on Grazer Rosenberg (the hill bordering Alt-Grabenhofen Castle ) in 1385 .

Between the years 1373 and 1400 Reinprecht received the Seckau fief . He was named in 1396 as the prince's keeper ( burgrave ) of Spital am Pyhrn . In 1410 he appeared in a document from his cousin Cholman von Windischgraetz . In 1403 he was named in a document as the representative of the captain in Steyr (or Styria ). Reinprecht was also closely related to the branch of the family residing at Schloss Kornberg , the so-called Kornberg line ; he sealed contracts of Messrs. Friedrich I and his son Friedrich II von Graben as well as the marriage certificate of Katrey von Graben, a daughter (?) of Friedrich I, and Niclas von Roggendorf and in 1399 in a sales certificate from Kornberger Graben to the Freisinger Bishop Berthold von Wehingen . The interesting thing here is that all seals are still in good condition and the two Friedrichs have the newer coat of arms with the upright spade, while Reinprecht shows the old trench coat of arms with the sloping beam. Reinprecht III. died at Am Graben before 1413 .

Reinprecht was married twice; his first wife has no identity at all; his second wife was called Ursula, who was recorded as a widow in 1413. The Hof am Graben passed through his heir Affra vom Graben (Grabner) († before 1458), wife of Caspar Hann , by inheritance to the Hann and the Fladnitz .
