Equestrian at the Pan American Games

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Equestrian sport was already part of the program of the first Pan American Games in 1951 in Buenos Aires , Argentina . Since then, equestrian sport has been an integral part of the Pan American Games. The disciplines dressage , eventing and jumping are represented. Both team and individual medals are awarded in each discipline. Men and women compete together.

The equestrian disciplines and the jumping sub-discipline of the modern pentathlon are the only events with animals at the Pan American Games. In equestrian sports, the horse is seen as an athlete, the rider only introduces the animal. The international organization for equestrian sport is the Fédération Équestre Internationale ( FEI ).

versatility

In Havana in 1991 and in Santo Domingo in 2003 there was no eventing. Instead, a separate Pan American Eventing Championship was held each time. In 1991 it took place in Chatsworth, Georgia , USA and in 2003 in Fair Hill, Maryland .
