In the British overseas territory of St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha , the Anglican denomination predominates ( Church of England ). Other religious or denominational affiliations increased between 1998 and 2008 as the population decreased .

Anglican belief

In the 2016 census, 2,995 residents of the island of St. Helena said they were Anglican. This corresponded to a share of 81.5 percent. The diocese of St. Helena , which includes St. Helena and Ascension , is part of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa . The diocese has three parishes with 13 church buildings . Since 1960 Tristan da Cunha has been part of the Anglican Diocese of Cape Town in Cape Town , South Africa .

The Church of St. James in Jamestown is the oldest Anglican church in the southern hemisphere .
