Remus Ghiurițan (born September 7, 1919 in Zilah , Kingdom of Hungary ) is a former Romanian football player . He denied 29 matches in the highest Romanian league, the Divizia A .

Career as a player

Ghiurițan started playing football in the youth of Șoimii CFR Sibiu and moved to CFR Cluj in 1939 . A year later he joined CFR Timișoara , which was playing in Divizia B at the time . During the 1940/41 season he moved to Rapid Bucharest , one of the leading Romanian clubs of the time. With Rapid he won the Romanian Cup in 1941 and 1942 . A victory in the championship was denied to him because the game had been interrupted due to the Second World War and between 1941 and 1944 only unofficial tournaments took place.

After the end of the war, Ghiurițan rose with Rapid - now under the name CFR Bucharest - back into the game and played again in the 1946/47 season in the House of Lords. After he had lost his regular place in the team in the season 1947/48 , he played a year for Grivița CFR Bucharest in Divizia B before he ended his career.

National team

Ghiurițan came on September 30, 1945 against Hungary , the first international match after the end of the war, for his only appearance for the Romanian national football team .

Career as a coach

After the end of his active career Ghiurițan worked for his former club Rapid Bucharest as a coach. In the 1953 season, Mihai Lengheriu succeeded him in the middle of the season . In the middle of the season 1954 he was replaced by Francisc Ronnay , who had to relegate with the club at the end of the season. Under Ghiurițan, the team was in midfield.

At the beginning of the 1959/60 season Ghiurițan was again head coach as the successor to Ronnay. He finished the season in tenth place out of twelve teams and had to give way to Ion Mihăilescu .
