René Bader (born August 7, 1922 in Switzerland ; † January 1, 1995 ) was a Swiss football player and coach. He played as a striker .

He was employed by FC Basel between 1946 and 1953 . In 1947 Basel won the Swiss Cup in the final in the Neufeld stadium in Bern 3–0 against Lausanne . Paul Stöcklin scored two goals and Bader one. In the Swiss Football Championship 1949/50 , FC Basel was runner-up behind Servette Geneva .

Between 1952 and 1955 and during the 1958/59 season Bader was employed as a coach at Basel. In the 1952/53 season , the first championship title in the club's history was won. After only one defeat from 26 games, they had four points ahead of Young Boys Bern under player- coach Bader . The team members Bader had at his disposal were Werner Schley , Walter Müller, Walter Bannwart, Walter Bielser, Werner Bopp, Hansruedi Fitze, Hans Hügi, Josef "Seppe" Hügi , Kurt Maurer, Georges Mogoy, Peter Redolfi, Kurt Thalmann, Hans Weber and itself.

He played in the national team at the 1950 World Cup in Brazil. In the last group game on July 2 at the Estádio dos Eucaliptos , Porto Alegre , he scored the first goal when Switzerland defeated the team from Mexico 2–1.
