René Cottet

René Cottet (born November 25, 1902 in Paris , † April 24, 1992 in Rousset-les-Vignes ) was a French painter and engraver .

From 1916 to 1920 he was at the Ecole Estienne , then at the l'École nationale des Beaux-Arts.

He was a professor at the Robert Estienne Technical College in Paris and a graphic designer for several postage stamps .

From 1933 to 1934 he was a boarding school student in the master class at the French foreign school Casa de Velázquez in Madrid , receiving a scholarship from the city of Paris.

Cottet designed over six hundred postage stamps between 1938 and 1968, mainly for France, Luxembourg , Saarland , Poland , Monaco , Tunisia and Morocco, as well as one for the French southern and Antarctic regions . The first motive for the French postal administration in 1941 was the coat of arms of the city of Marseille . His motifs mainly include portraits, landscapes, also cityscapes and animals. He graduated in 1968 with the Auguste Renoir stamp series .
