René Dubois
René Dubois (born December 29, 1908 in Le Locle ; † March 23, 1957 in Bern ) was a Swiss federal prosecutor who died by suicide during his tenure (1955–1957) .
Life
René Dubois received the advocacy license of the Canton of Bern in 1934 . In 1949 he was elected head of the legal service and deputy to the Swiss federal prosecutor. In this role he investigated several affairs. In 1955 he was the first social democrat to be elected federal prosecutor by the Federal Council. He committed suicide at his place of residence in connection with a spy scandal that was about to be uncovered and in which he himself became entangled without his knowledge. The affair caused a sensation nationally and internationally.
