René Le Bègue (born January 15, 1914 in Paris , † February 24, 1946 ) was a French racing driver .

Career

Since the French Grand Prix cars could not keep up with the Silver Arrows in the 1930s , many drivers tried their luck at sports car races , including René Le Bègue. His career began at Delahaye in 1936 , and he has had some success too. He won the 12-hour race in Paris in 1938 and the Coupe de Vitesse in Montlhéry 1938. On a Talbot he reached during the 1939 Grand Prix season scoring French Grand Prix behind the two German Auto Union - works drivers Hermann Paul Müller and Schorsch Meier took third place.

During the Second World War , Le Bègue fought in the French army and then wanted to continue his racing career when he died of carbon monoxide poisoning from a defective boiler .
