René Pöltl

René Pöltl (* 1967 in Heidelberg ) is a German lawyer and politician.

After graduating from high school, he studied law at Heidelberg University from 1987 to 1992 . Until 1995 he was a trainee lawyer at the regional court in Heidelberg before he moved to the legal office of the Heidelberg city administration and was appointed head of the regulatory office in 2003. He obtained his doctorate in 1999 while working.

In 2006, the non-party Pöltl moved to the city of Schwetzingen , where he was elected First Mayor. In 2008 he was elected Lord Mayor of Schwetzingen with 90.67 percent of the vote in the first ballot . He succeeded the resigned Bernd Junker . On September 18, 2016, he was re-elected as Lord Mayor.
