Reinicke became known for his realistic depictions of urban and middle-class life. In particular, 41 copper gravure prints of oil paintings and ink drawings contributed to this, which he published in a Munich art publisher in 1890 under the title Mirror Images from Life . The motifs and themes of his pictures show parallels to Adolph Menzel and Ernst Liebermann . In his works, Reinicke often contrasted the technical progress of the industrial age with precise characteristics and traditional habits of his models. Munich with its village suburbs offered backdrops that Reinicke took up.
