René Schweizer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

René Schweizer (born July 27, 1943 in Basel ; † June 12, 2015 in Basel ) was a Swiss writer , action artist and self-promoter .

Like Winfried Bornemann after him in Germany, Schweizer became known for his joke letters to authorities, companies and other institutions, which he published together with the answers in his Swiss books.

The most widespread anecdote in Basel vernacular is about the fact that he had lost his mind on Barfüsserplatz - "He's red with yellow spots and goes by the name of Erwin" - whereupon the lost property office issued a loss report.
