René Van Meenen

René Van Meenen (born January 14, 1931 in Drongen , Belgium ) is a former Belgian cyclist .

He was a professional from 1956 to 1967.

Van Meenen won the Tour of Egypt in 1954 and the Tour of North Holland in 1955 . In the Tour of Spain in 1961 , he was able to win a stage.

He started his career as a professional driver with the French team Mercier - BP - Hutchinson and switched to other teams several times. He stayed with the Belgian team ' Wiel's - Gancia - Groene Leeuw ' from 1962 to 1966. In 1967 he ended his career with the Belgian team ' Goldor - Gerka '. After he was not very successful as a professional driver, he worked as a mechanic in Geel near Antwerp .
