Sint-Lievens-Houtem is a Belgian municipality in the Denderstreek in the Flanders region with 10,342 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). The municipality has a total of five sub-municipalities, Bavegem , Letterhoutem , Sint-Lievens-Houtem, Vlierzele and Zonnegem . The Molenbeek runs through Letterhoutem, Vlierzele and Zonnegem.

Aalst is 13 kilometers east, Ghent 15 km northwest and Brussels around 36 km east.

The next motorway junctions are in the north near Wetteren and Erpe-Mere on the A10 / E 40 .

In Herzele , Oosterzele , Melle and Erpe are the next regional stations and in Ghent and Brussels keep on regional express trains.

In 2010 the Houtem Jaarmarkt, an annual winter fair and livestock market, was added to the list of intangible cultural heritage as a UNESCO World Heritage Site .
