Marc Possover

Marc Possover (born January 22, 1963 in Saint-Avold ) is a French surgeon and gynecologist .

Marc Possover graduated from high school in 1978 at the age of 15 . He then began studying medicine at Nancy University . He completed this in 1986 at the age of 22. Possover began a specialist training as cardio vascular surgeon in Nancy . It was September 25, 1990 at the University with the thesis "aneurysm a candida albicans of the internal carotid artery" , for which he received the title of "Magna Cum Laude" PhD .

In 1990 he began a second specialist training in gynecology and obstetrics at the Saarland University in Homburg . In 1992 Possover moved to the Klinik am Eichert in Göppingen , where he received his specialist certification for gynecology and obstetrics in July 1995.

In 2001 Marc Possover moved to the Clinic and Polyclinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics at the University of Cologne as Senior Consultant , where he was appointed adjunct professor under Peter Mallmann in 2003. In 2004 he received a visiting professorship at the Norvegian Radium Hospital in Oslo . From January 2005 to September 2008 he was chief physician in the department for gynecology and obstetrics at the St. Elisabeth Hospital in Cologne .

In October 2008 Marc Possover went to Switzerland to the Hirslanden Clinic in Zurich as head of the Center for “Surgical Gynecology and Neuropelveology” . In the same year he founded the "International School of Neuropelveology" - a school dedicated to the further training of doctors in the field of neuropelveology.

In 2012 he received the world's first professorship in neuropelveology at Aarhus University in Denmark .

In 2013 the Possover International Medical Center was founded in Zurich, which specializes in the neuropelveological treatment of patients from all over the world.

Marc Possover has been the founding president of the International Society of Neuropelveology since 2014 .

Professional focus

Possover's scientific work focuses on the minimally invasive treatment of endometriosis and malignant diseases of the uterus . He is regarded as the "father of neuropelveology", a new branch of medicine that deals with pathological changes in nerves in the pelvis . In 2003 he was the first in the world to implant electrodes in a paraplegic patient to restore the function of the legs, and in 2006 he used electrodes to restore the function of the bladder and bowel in a paralyzed woman.
