The Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel is located on the first 15 floors of a new Mobimo AG building in the Zurich-West quarter . It is one of the largest Swiss hotels . In August 2011, the SV-Group opened the hotel with 300 rooms and suites, the Equinox Restaurant and the Lucid Bar & Lounge as a franchise of Marriott International . The hotel, which is largely designed for business customers, was awarded the Best Business Hotel Switzerland 2013 award by Business Destinations magazine. The hotel is located at Turbinenstrasse 20 next to the Prime Tower .

The Mobimo Tower is 81 meters high and houses the Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel on its 24 floors, the associated Equinox Restaurant and the Lucid Bar & Lounge, as well as 53 condominiums. The restaurant and bar are on the ground floor. On the first and second floors there are 10 conference rooms with an area of ​​approx. 1,000 m². The hotel rooms occupy floors 3 to 14. The condominiums, which cannot be reached via the lifts in the hotel, start on the 15th floor and extend to the 23rd and thus the highest floor.

When it was built, the tower was the third tallest building in the city and (at the beginning of 2014) the tenth tallest in Switzerland.

Architect and designer

The Mobimo Tower was designed and planned by Roger Diener from the Basel architectural office Diener & Diener . One of his specialties is the urbanization of old industrial areas. In addition to the Mobimo Tower project, he also contributed to the appearance of Zurich West with the redesign of the Maag area .

The designer Claudio Carbone took over the interior design in the hotel. Based on the history of Zurich West, the Carbone took up industrial motifs and embodied them in the hotel. So stands z. In the restaurant, for example, there is a polished propeller from the time when Escher Wyss AG was involved in shipbuilding on the site . In addition, abstract pictures hang on aluminum surfaces in the hotel.

The Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel opened in August 2011. Since then it has hosted Miss Switzerland 2013, the aperitif at the Swiss Music Awards 2012 and the Elite Model Look Castings in spring 2013. The hotel is a sponsor of the Grasshoppers Zurich football club . In May 2013, after the football club won the cup, the hotel hosted the final ceremony, during which a training session took place on the roof of the building. The room recordings of the short film Elite by Piet Baumgartner with Michael Neuenschwander and Mona Petri were shot in the Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel.

The hotel comprises 252 standard rooms and 48 suites, including a Presidential Suite and a Grand Suite. Ten conference rooms extend over 1,000 m² on the first two floors and the foyer on the second floor offers space for breaks or standing lunches. The largest room is approx. 350 m² with space for up to 335 people. The conference rooms are named after ships that were built in the neighboring shipbuilding industry and some are still in operation today. On the 15th floor there is an executive lounge and a fitness studio. Free concerts are held regularly in the hotel.
