Renate Brandscheidt

Renate Brandscheidt (born February 20, 1952 in Trier ) is a German theologian .

Life

From 1970 to 1976 she studied theology and philosophy in Trier, Freiburg and Bonn . From 1976 to 1982 she was a research assistant at the chair for Exegesis of the Old Testament at the Theological Faculty in Trier and religion teacher at the Friedrich-Spee-Gymnasium Trier. From 1983 to 2000 she was Senior Academic Councilor for Biblical Languages. After completing her habilitation in Mainz in 1999 , she has been a professor of Exegesis of the Old Testament and Biblical theology at the Trier Theological Faculty since 2000 . Since 2001 she has been visiting professor at the University of Saarland (Department of Catholic Theology). On April 1, 2018, she was released.

Her research areas are Genesis (prehistory and the history of Abraham); Wisdom literature ( Kohelet ); Prophecy and Biblical Theology.
