Renate Günthert

Renate Günthert (* as Renate Frick on September 8, 1935 in Berlin ; † May 12, 2011 in Munich - Bogenhausen ) was a German fashion designer and entrepreneur .

Renate Günthert was the daughter of Wilhelm Frick , Reich Minister of the Interior from 1933 to 1943, and his second wife Margarete, who was previously married to the architect and Reichstag member Paul Schultze-Naumburg . She had a brother, Dieter Frick (1937–2007).

Life

She grew up in Berlin and Prague . After an apprenticeship as a tailor in Frankfurt am Main and Paris , she met her husband Peter Günthert in a drawing school in Munich. She worked as a director (profession) .

Together with her husband Peter Günthert, she took over the corsetry shop founded in 1916 from his parents. Both developed this into the fashion label Rena Lange . The first haute couture collection was presented for the 1958/59 season, followed by the first prêt-à-porter collection in 1982 . In 2001 Peter and Renate Günthert handed over the management of the company to their son Daniel.

The Rena Lange company was liquidated in 2015 after no buyer could be found in the bankruptcy proceedings.
