Renato Meucci

Renato Meucci (* 1958 ) is an Italian musician, musicologist and university professor.

Meucci studied guitar and horn at the Conservatories of Rome and Milan and classical philology at La Sapienza University in Rome . After working as a horn player in orchestras for a decade, he switched to musicology.

Meucci holds lectures on the history of musical instruments as a visiting professor - from 1994 to 2000 at the University of Parma , since 2001 at the Music Department of the University of Milan . He is also a university professor of music history , from 1994 to 2000 at the Conservatorio Francesco Morlacchi in Perugia and since 2001 at the Conservatorio Guido Cantelli in Novara , where he also became dean in 2011 .

He researches and publishes on the topics of musical instruments , archeology , iconography , music ethnology , orchestration and music production in the 19th century.

From 1994 to 2007 Meucci was President of the Fondazione Italiana per la Musica Antica .
