The Rennwegskopf is a 729.6 m high mountain in the western Thuringian Forest . It is located approx. 3 km south of the Rennsteig and marks the border between the Wartburg district and the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen . Secondary peaks are the Judenkopf (712.2 m), the Untere Beerberg (710.7 m) and the rocks of the Questenstein (724.4 m - with a view of the Thuringian Valley ).
While the Rennwegskopf is largely forested - there are mainly spruce trees here, the rocks of the basement are exposed on the Questenstein. The Breiter Rennsteig leads over the Rennwegskopf .
