Renward Meyer von Schauensee (born April 18, 1818 in Lucerne ; † May 5, 1895 there , Catholic , resident in Lucerne) was a Swiss liberal politician .

biography

Renward Meyer von Schauensee was born on April 18, 1818 in Lucerne as the son of the armory administrator Ludwig Meyer von Schauensee and the Columba née Bell. Meyer von Schauensee, a member of Zofingia and Helvetia , studied law at the universities of Freiburg , Munich and Heidelberg .

Subsequently he worked as a lawyer from 1844 to 1852 and again from 1871 . He also served from 1848 to 1852 as a Supreme Court clerk and from 1852 to 1855 as a prosecutor used.

He was married to Nina, daughter of the government councilor and mayor Peter Amrhyn. His wife was a niece of the politician Joseph Karl Amrhyn . Renward Meyer von Schauensee died on May 5, 1895 at the age of 77 in Lucerne. He was the brother of the politicians Ludwig Plazid and Ludwig Rudolf Meyer von Schauensee.

Political career

The liberal politician Meyer von Schauensee was a member of the Education Council from 1862 to 1871. He was also represented in the Grand Council in 1867 and from 1871 to 1875 . For this he worked from 1855 to 1871 in Lucerne Governing Council as an influential head of the Department of the Interior, the municipal system, the church system and the state economy as well as the creator of a series of laws to civil , poorhouse, tax and criminal law. In addition, Meyer von Schauensee was a member of the Council of States from 1856 to 1867 .
