Renzo Ruggieri

Renzo Ruggieri (* 1965 in Roseto degli Abruzzi ) is an Italian musician ( accordion , also arrangement , composition ) of modern jazz .

Ruggieri studied standard accordion with Aldo Rampa and chromatic button accordion with Vittorio Pomante. Until the end of his studies he also took jazz piano lessons at the CPM in Milan with Franco D'Andrea ; He also attended courses in jazz accordion playing with Frank Marocco (1995), Adriano Mazzoletti (1996), Richard Galliano (2000) and Umbero Fiorentino (2002) as well as in arrangement and composition for big band jazz with Mario Raja (2001) and film music ( 1991) with Ennio Morricone .

Ruggieri worked as a soloist and in various ensembles and symphony orchestras with whom he gave numerous concerts around the world. He has appeared on renowned stages such as the Arena di Verona , the Shanghai Grand Theater, the Ariston Theater in Sanremo, the Gnessin Music School in Moscow, the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza and the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma . He was also the artistic director of several accordion festivals; In 2009 he was awarded the Voce d'Oro at the Castelfidardo International Accordion Festival, previously awarded by musicians such as Richard Galliano, Gorni Kramer , Astor Piazzolla and Art Van Damme . In 2013 he received the "Silver Record" from the Gnessin Academy in Moscow. His Inni d'Italia and Collection CDs won the Orpheus Award for best accordion jazz CD of the year.

Ruggieri also wrote music for theatrical works, including Il Ratto di Proserpina by R. San Secondo (Greco-Roman Theater in Taormina, 1997), La leggenda del fiore di lino , Stipo / Del Giudice (Theater Rome, 2001) and Van Gogh and Tutankhamun by Marco Goldin (Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, 2013). In 2007 his album Bends (Wide Sound) was released; In 2008 he presented the Duoabum Terre (Associazione Promozionarte) with Mauro De Federicis .

Ruggieri has taught at the Conservatories of Cosenza, Teramo, Castelfranco Veneto, Nocera Terinese and L'Aquila and has given seminars in Canada, Russia, the USA and China. He has also published didactic works and compositions for music publishers and writes articles for specialist journals.
